Fall fishing sure is in FULL SWING!!! This past week has produced some incredible reports from the Gulf of Mexico. Wahoo, red snapper, red grouper, kingfish and cobia reports coming from offshore. Wahoo were around 50 mi out, red snappers were a bit further around 60-65mi. Cobia are really scattered from that depth all the way inshore. Several hogfish caught off of the nearshore ledges as well. Bait has been extremely plentiful making for some very fun bonita, spanish mackerel and kingfish action!! We have had a substantial amount of tripletail reported already this season. Several of them being keeper and over sized. If youre not familiar with these fish, stop in and we can explain some great techniques for catching them! Pompano action has been super consistent mainly around big pass area using “silly willy’ jigs or rigged shrmp. Inshore trout and redfish bite has been fantastic with some smaller snook scattered in. Throwing soft plastics or shrimp flies on the grass flats and near the mangroves can sometimes produce a nice “belly crawling” red. Topwaters for trout, such as the chrome spook jr. work extremely well also. We are also still hearing about some larger jacks and snook near the mouth of Phillippi and south creek. As always, stop in and see us with any questions or concerns! Tight Lines!!!
