Offshore fishing has been a bit tough with the high winds but has calmed down nicely these past few days. Gag grouper are being reported in about 50 feet of water. Mangrove snapper bite has been very consistent and we are seeing larger fish being caught than normal. Live bait is best for gags and mangroves and has been very plentiful in the nearshore Gulf of Mexico. Amberjacks and cobia are steadily being reported and will also primarily want a live bait. As always we do offer frozen bait but live is always best if you can get it. Some hogfish are being reported from the nearshore ledges as well and a live shrimp on a hog-ball is the go-to for those fish! Triple tail have also been pretty consistent in the 16-18″ range…( 18″ is the minimum for keeping) and these colder temps should typically bring some much larger models out of the deep. Live shrimp, minnows and flies are baits of choice for triple tail! There are still some larger snook inshore, check those back canals and water ways that would be potentially warmer this time of year. Some reports of trout on the flats but till waiting for that bite to heat up a bit. Kingfish have been reported everywhere from 2-20 miles as well as bonita. Again, live baits will be your best best for these fish! Stop in and check out some of the AWESOME gift ideas we have for the professional fisherman to the everyday angler!
