Hopefully everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, now lets get back to fishing!! We have had scattered reports of red tide over the last couple weeks in our area but I must stress that it is SCATTERED and also moves around daily. Try not to let one report scare you from getting out and exploring your area. That being said, I haven’t received any reports in the past few days of fish kills or bait dying so that is a great sign!! Offshore action has been hot! Gag grouper have been consistently reported in as shallow as 50′. Bait has been plentiful offshore as well, which should help the kingfish bite develop into something decent in the next couple weeks. Steady cobia reports of all size have been flowing in. Having multiple bait options to offer them is key. Bucktail jigs, live pinfish, flies, and poppers can be very effective! Some larger tripletail are being reported just this week, finally! Still a lot of small fish around but several over 20″ in the last couple days so hopefully this trend continues. These guys must be at least 18″ to keep and are super fun to sight fish! Having multiple options of bait for these as well can be useful, as sometimes theyre not interested in a live shrimp. Pompano and sheepshead are being reported in and around the passes and i feel this will just get better in the upcoming weels. Sand fleas are useful for the pompano and live shrimp are best for the sheepies. Still seeing some very nice trout on the flats the past week and some decent snook and reds as well.
