Water temps jumped nearly ten degrees this week!! This will increase the amount of bait activity in the bay, the nearshore Gulf of Mexico and offshore as well. Threadfin pods have been sighted offshore and smaller baits on the beach will make beach fishing for snook productive in the upcoming weeks and months. Plenty of pompano on the beaches right now along with sheepshead. Live shrimp can work well for both with a small sinker. Pompano jigs or “silly willy” type jigs are great for the pompano and can be used to sight cast. There are still a good amount of tripletail around the buoy lines and can be found floating among other debris like logs, palm fronds and buckets etc. CHECK ALL FLOATING DEBRIS this time of year if targeting tripletail. The mangrove snapper bite has been very hot within nine miles. Some of these nearshore ledges have been holding some nice hogfish also!! Live shrimp on a knocker rig or HOGBALLS work perfectly. We offer several colors and hook options here at the shop! With water temps rising snook and juvenile tarpon can easily be seen in many of the underwater dock lights making night fishing an absolute blast!! As always stop in and see us.. Please ask questions, that is why we are here!! ~Tight Lines
