Inshore fishing has been the ticket these past couple weeks, with rough seas and high winds keeping anglers close. If you’re able to get out offshore, the red snapper bite has been HOT along with gag grouper. Tuna have been pretty consistent offshore as well, ranging anywhere from 10- 65mi. Inshore fishing has been amazing. Huge snook and redfish have been reported in most of the passes on the outgoing tides. Tarpon are abundant at the moment and can be spotted up and down the beaches but mainly focused near the passes. Again, check your tides!! This will make a great difference. Multiple baits can be used for tarpon, snook and redfish. Pinfish, crabs, shrimp or threadfin can work for all 3. There are some solid trout being reported off of the flats. Soft plastics, top waters or live bait are great for those fish. Many reports of pompano and permit these past few days near Big Sarasota Pass. The mangrove snapper bite has been phenomenal as well. Focus on areas with structure and use live shrimp free lined or with a small split shot weight. As always, stop in or give us a call and let us know if you have any questions! Tight Lines!!
