The current high pressure system holding over the coast has kept the wind down and temperatures up. Early morning and late evening are still the best times for top water for snook and reds, along with the HIGH morning tides. Just off the beach, schools of mackerel, bonita and sharks can be found under the birds feeding on smaller baits. Small sharks are plentiful around the bait schools also. Last week, black tips, spinners, blacknose and scalloped hammer heads were caught. I even happened to catch a small sailfish one mile off of Siesta Key beach!! The HBA Tournament had lots of marlin, swordfish, tuna and wahoo catches for you 130 mile fishermen.
