Spring fishing is on its way!! Water temps have been rising and the bite is improving. There have been several wahoo reports offshore past 100mi. One reported at 120lbs! Moving in a bit closer there are still nice sized red grouper being caught in about 100-140 feet of water. Big mangrove snapper steadily being reported offshore and nearshore. There are still some cobia lurking, though not many of size. Tripletail have finally started to show. Several this week in the 20-22″ range reported. The white bait has really come in nicely this week. There have been some nice pods right off of lido beach early in the mornings. Pompano and sheepshead are still going pretty strong in the passes and inshore. Live shrimp, sand fleas or artificials are recommended for those. The white bait in the bay has really started to stir up some snook!! The water in the bay is extremely clear so you may need to lighten those leaders but the snook are biting on the flats. Trout bite still staying consistent with some 30′ fish reported this week. North Sarasota Bay is heating up. Even a small tarpon reported on the flats! We have cast nets stocked up along with everything else you’ll need to get your Spring fishing started. Tight Lines!!
